What is true of common stereotypes about Italian women? (in the eyes of the rest of the world)
Why is it that the Italian woman and Italian Lifestyle are so admired by the rest of the world?
There are stereotypes about women in every country. French women are like that, American women are like this, Chinese women are this way, and so on. The same is true about Italian women […]
It is said that Italian women:
– are always chic and sophisticated (she is classy, she has taste, she is stylish…)
– love children very much and are affectionate and overprotective moms
– have large breasts and dark hair
– are as sensual as the Dolce & Gabbana models
– are sexy, also because they speak Italian, a language considered beautiful and sensual (do you remember the movie “A fish called Wanda?”)
– use hand gestures a lot and speak loudly
– are obsessed with fashion and hairstyles, and are great at styling clothing and accessories
– are foodies (obsessed with food) and are excellent cooks
– have sunny dispositions and love to enjoy life: drinking good wine, eating pasta without gaining weight, and surrounding themselves with beautiful things
– are very close to their families and love having friends over
– are simple and reassuring women; they are not considered to be feminists and do not want to claim their independence
Could all this be true?
Many Italian women fight hard against stereotypes, because they are just trival generalizations. It’s never a good idea to paint everyone with the same brush. Generalizations are not always true; rather, I have found that they are sometimes true!
